Wolves Haydar Named To Second All-Star Team

Chicago Wolves right wing Darren Haydar has been named to the 2010-11 American Hockey League Second All-Star Team. This marks the first time since the 2007-08 season the Wolves have had a player named to a year-end All-Star Team, and the third time HAYDAR has been recognized with the league honor (First Team, 2006-07; Second Team, 2008-09).

HAYDAR shares first on the Wolves and is tied for third in the AHL with 68 points in 71 games this season. He also paces Chicago and is tied for 15th in the league with 25 goals, and ranks second on the Wolves and shares fifth in the AHL with 43 assists.

The 31-year-old forward, who also shares the team lead with four game-winning goals, ranks sixth on Chicago’s all-time scoring register with 248 points (85G, 163A) in 195 career regular-season games with the Wolves (2006-08, 2010-present). He also holds sixth place with 85 career goals and fifth with 163 career assists, and was a member of the Wolves 2008 Calder Cup Champion team.

The Milton, Ontario, native has racked up 668 points (249G, 419A) in 633 career AHL outings, spanning nine seasons with Chicago, Milwaukee (2002-06), Grand Rapids (2008-09) and Lake Erie (2009-10). He was named the winner of the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL’s most valuable player as a member of the Wolves in 2006-07, after leading the league with 81 assists and 122 points - both career highs - and sharing third with a career best 41 goals that season.

The Wolves, who are locked in a three-way tie for the fourth and final guaranteed playoff spot in the West Division, take on the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center tonight at 7 p.m.
