Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman (18-20-2) turned aside all 25 shots he faced to pick up his first shutout of the season.
Chicago (47-23-1-6) holds first place in the West Division with a four-point lead over the Texas Stars with three games remaining on each team’s regular-season schedule.
After a scoreless first period, San Antonio (34-30-5-7) opened scoring, 2:58 into the second. Center Gavin Morgan passed the puck out front from behind the net and right wing Matt Watkins spun around and shot the puck from his backhand past Wolves netminder Drew MacIntyre.
The Admirals went up by two with a shorthanded tally at 9:43 of the second period. Center Kyle Turris sent a pass through the neutral zone to Watkins, who skated in and took a quick wrister that beat MacIntyre on the far post.
Turris made Rampage lead three on another shorthanded bid just 22 seconds later. Turris picked up the puck in his defensive zone and skated towards the goal on a breakaway before beating MacIntyre on the backhand and wristing the puck top-shelf.
MacIntyre (20-17-2) recorded 33 saves in the losing effort.
