Wolves Wish: Brett’s Buddies
Brett Sterling wants to help provide a special experience for friends of the Wolves family!
When Brett Sterling rejoined the Chicago Wolves in July after three seasons in Europe, he didn’t choose to come home purely for hockey reasons.
Yes, he’s the franchise’s No. 2 all-time goal-scorer and eagerly plans to add to his goal total, but the 32-year-old also wants to resume and expand the relationships he has built away from the ice.
During his last season with the Wolves, Sterling was the team’s 2012-13 winner of the AHL Man of the Year award for his work throughout the Chicago area. He created the “Team Up with 29” program, which involved a different local charity each month. Sterling donated $29 for each point he scored and encouraged Wolves fans to set up their own donations for each point.
Sterling also made regular visits to local hospitals to play bingo with young patients and participated in several other charitable events. In this vein, Sterling is spearheading the “Brett’s Buddies” program for the 2016-17 season. The Chicago resident wants to provide special experiences for friends of the Wolves family who are facing adversity.
